    Questions

    Clear answers, before you start

What is a contractor of record?

Sprint Labs is the engaging party for your independent contractor. We hold the Contractor Services Agreement, coordinate onboarding, prepare monthly invoices and run payments. You direct the work. The contractor remains responsible for their own tax and registrations.

How is this different from an employer of record?

Contractor of Record is an independent contractor engagement, not an EOR arrangement. It does not turn the professional into staff on a local payroll. The contract, responsibilities and payment model reflect that distinction.

    Who owns the IP?

Under MSA 3.0, customer-specific work is assigned to you from creation. Sprint Labs retains its background tools and know-how, with the licences you need to use the deliverables. Late payment does not revoke ownership already assigned.

    What happens at month end?

You review your monthly team summary and flag exceptions. Separately, under contractor-1.0 clause 5, the contractor’s self-billed invoice is prepared on the 1st of the following month with three working days to approve or query it. Silence means approval; a queried invoice stays held until resolved.

    When are contractors paid?

Payments run on the 10th of the following month, or the preceding Friday when the 10th falls on a weekend. Approved invoices, complete bank details and resolved queries are required. The payout ETA reflects the payment rail, not a guarantee of arrival on the same day.

    Can my contractor claim expenses?

Yes. Reimbursement must be agreed in writing in advance. The contractor submits the expense date, amount and receipt; an authorised approver reviews the claim. Approved claims join the relevant monthly or Additional invoice. Customer pass-through billing is off unless agreed in writing.

Can I request a background check?

Yes, for Philippines contractors. Screening requires the contractor’s consent and a signed Service Order. Available checks include criminal record, work history, education, identity and watchlist. Pricing is agreed before proceeding and charging occurs only on completion. Reports are private, with customer access only where authorised and shareable.

    What notice applies?

The engagement requires 60 days’ written notice. Charges remain due through the notice period, with no exit fee. The 30-day replacement promise does not apply to transfers. The 24-day non-availability allowance is working days per contract year, pro-rated for part years, under the signed agreement.
