    Why this role

What does a strong bookkeeper change?

Bookkeeping is the highest-return offshore hire most small businesses make, because the work is continuous, rules-based and almost entirely software-mediated — but it still needs someone who cares whether the bank feed actually reconciles. A dedicated, employed bookkeeper who learns your suppliers and your quirks is a different proposition to a rotating freelancer.

    How to evaluate

    Interviewing a bookkeeper.

    01

    Watch them reconcile live

Screen-share a sample file and ask them to clear a week of transactions. Speed, coding accuracy and whether they ask before guessing tell you almost everything.

    02

    Test the chasing conversation

Receivables work is a communication job. Ask them to draft a third follow-up email to a customer 45 days overdue and read the tone.

    03

    Ask what they escalate

Good bookkeepers know their boundary. Ask which transactions they would never code without asking, and why.

    Optional add-on

Add AI accent conversion for $1/hour per user.

If the role spends time on the phone, our AI accent conversion neutralises accent in real time so every call lands clearly with your customers — without losing the person behind the voice.

    Real-time neutralisation

Accent is softened live on the call, with latency low enough that the conversation still feels natural.

    Their voice, preserved

Tone, pace, warmth and intent stay theirs. It is your actual team member on the line, just easier to follow.

    Your existing phone system

Layers over the softphone or dialler you already run. No porting, no new platform, nothing to retrain.

    FAQ

Questions about hiring an offshore bookkeeper.

How much does an offshore bookkeeper cost?

Roughly USD 1,000–1,600 per month all-in for a full-time mid-level bookkeeper and USD 1,600–2,200 for a senior bookkeeper owning AP and AR end to end. That is one flat monthly seat cost with no placement fee and no hourly billing.

Should I hire a bookkeeper or an accountant?

Brief a bookkeeper if the work is daily processing, reconciliation, invoicing and collections. Brief an accountant if you need the month-end close owned, management reporting produced and technical treatment decided. Many clients start with a bookkeeper and add an accountant later.

Do they know Australian or US bookkeeping conventions?

Many do. Philippine bookkeepers commonly have several years of Australian small-business experience including BAS preparation and superannuation, and others have US sales-tax and 1099 exposure. Tell us which market you operate in and we screen for it directly.

Do I need a local entity to hire a bookkeeper offshore?

No. Sprint Labs is the legal employer in-market. We contract the bookkeeper, run local-currency payroll, handle statutory benefits and compliance, and bill you one flat monthly seat cost in your own currency. You direct the work day-to-day exactly as you would an in-house hire.

How long does it take to hire a bookkeeper through Sprint Labs?

Most briefs produce a named, vetted shortlist within 5–10 business days. From there you interview, choose, and we handle the offer, contract and onboarding — typical brief-to-start is three to five weeks depending on the candidate's notice period.

What happens if the hire is not the right fit?

Tell us within the first 30 days and we replace them at our cost. After that, engagements carry a 60-day cancellation notice, which protects the employee and gives you time to hand over work — but if you want to swap rather than terminate, we run a replacement search in parallel at no additional recruitment cost.
